So this state-supported circus school in Lisbon is connected to a multi-level restaurant and bar with amazing views of the city and Tuesday night Fado downstairs. Would love to see that business plan, but it works.
It helps that the food was quite delicious. I’d like to see more of this sort of wackiness that makes sense here in Richmond. It probably isn’t a circus school/restaurant, but let’s see just how creative people want to be.
For starters I’d love to see acrobats strutting their stuff on Brown’s Island or the Canal Walk once a year…and then letting paying folks try out the equipment. The Theatre Alliance in Philly did this this past spring downtown as part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts. One of my sisters and her two children tried out Fly City and had a blast and no broken bones. Wish I had been there to see it. Does Richmond need a circus school? Maybe or maybe we have enough clowns around here already.
