Travel and (occasionally) Adventure

"I thought she was up there in her house baking brownies all day."

Mary Blanchard
Graphic Designer

I've grappled on the ground with Jiu-Jitsu masters, rappelled 400 feet down the SunTrust building for Over the Edge/Special Olympics, explored a hammock- and tofu-making commune, climbed 70 feet up a tree, overnighted in a yurt, and rafted through Class IV rapids. Anything for a story. Staying in posh hotels, wandering about hidden museums, and saving room for dessert are other perils I’m willing to endure. It’s my job.

Maureen dug a deep Richmond hole, researching and writing Insiders’ Guide to Richmond for Globe Pequot Press. She learned so much about her hometown, she started a tour business, Real Richmond, LLC, and now leads food tours in Richmond’s many distinct restaurant rows such as Shockoe Slip and Bottom, Monroe and Jackson Wards, Carytown, and the Fan.
